News - Mount Ridley Mines Ltd explores for nickel copper sulphides in Albany-Fraser Range

Mount Ridley Mines Ltd (ASX:MRD) has re-commenced a program of deep diamond drilling at Target 19, Mt Ridley Project in the Albany-Fraser Range Province in Western Australia.

Drilling in hole MRDD015 had earlier intersected a discontinuous 180 metre thick zone of minor (1-3%) disseminated nickel and copper sulphides from 470 metres. This was short of the planned 800 metre target depth.

The interpretation was that this could represent a halo surrounding a more substantial accumulation of sulphides nearby.

The company will drill a hole of 750-800 metres to test an audio-frequency magnetotelluric (AMT) anomaly in an area where past drill holes have intersected nickel and copper sulphides.

Deep diamond drilling will also be conducted at other AMT conductor anomalies within Target 19. Holes have been designed to test at least 4-5 priority AMT targets over the coming 4-6 months.

Mount Ridley is also currently carrying out a detailed gravity survey on a 400 metres x 200 metres grid across the regional gravity trend from the south-west to the north-east tenement boundaries, a strike length of almost 25 kilometres.

The aim of this survey is to identify denser objects within the regional gravity trend that are closer to the surface within reach of potential diamond drilling.

These conductive features could represent potential feeder zones containing massive nickel and copper sulphides.

Earlier this month, Mount Ridley raised $1.94 million via the issue of shares at $0.021.
